Why is it Important to Support Minority Entrepreneurs
Currently, underserved populations in the St. Louis region and Illinois East St. Louis region disproportionately benefit from their city’s economic success and face many challenges and barriers when starting their own businesses. In St. Louis, Missouri, 68% of companies are owned by non-identifying minorities, who comprise 48.1% of the city’s total population. Our identifying minority population includes 45.3% of the total regional population, owns just 32% of local businesses. There are three significant areas where these minorities need support:
- Human Capital
- Financial Capital
- Social Capital
